The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Junior Engineer (UPPCL JE) is an annual state-level government examination conducted by UPPCL headquartered in Lucknow. It gets applicants from all over the country for the post of Junior Engineer trainee. UPPCL aims to provide reliable, accessible, and economic electricity facilities in every corner of UP.

UPPCL conducts two examinations for selecting Junior Engineers. One exam is conducted for the post of Civil Engineer and the other for Electrical Engineering. The number of vacancies released every year varies, but generally, it’s around 31. The UPPCL JE exam is conducted in online mode.

UPPCL JE Syllabus 2021

  • The exam paper is divided into 4 sections – Technical Knowledge, Reasoning, General Awareness and General Hindi. 
  • The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.
  • A total of 200 questions will be asked from the four subjects mentioned above. 
  • There will be 150 questions from your Engineering subject; a total of 20 questions each from General Awareness and Reasoning followed by 10 questions from General Hindi. 
  • The total mark for this examination is 200.
  • The recruitment procedure is done in two phases, written exam and document verification.

Can B. Sc Students Apply for UPPCL JE?

Yes, BSc students can apply for UPPCL JE, as it is a three-year degree equivalent to a diploma. However, only candidates having BSc in Electrical or Civil Engineering can apply for the post of UPPCL Junior Engineer.

Age Limit

The age eligibility is the same for Civil and Electrical Engineering exams:

  • The candidates must have completed 18 years of age by the first month (January) of the examination year.
  • The candidate’s age should be between 18 and 40 years.
  • Age relaxation will be given to Reserved category candidates as per government regulations.

Other Requirements for UPPCL JE Exam

Other than the academic and age criteria, here are some other essential requirements for both exams of UPPCL JE:

  • Candidates should have passed high school with pass marks in Hindi and should be proficient in Hindi.
  • Candidates without Hindi as a high school subject must clear the compulsory exam conducted by the Registrar Office of the Examination Department, Government of UP, within 3 years of serving as a Junior Engineer.
